Have you completed and registered Unit 1 Suzuki Piano? Have you taught Suzuki Piano for at least one year, and do you currently have a studio?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to all questions, then the Practicum is for you!
The focus of the course is how to teach. Each participant will have the opportunity to showcase their teaching via a video of their home students made before coming to SOSI, as well as, have the opportunity to teach students during the Institute itself.

All this is done as part of the class; we will all be in this together.

When not teaching, we will talk about teaching! Of course, that will include discussions on working with parents, and how to give praise effectively among other topics.
Prerequisites: High school diploma; Every Child Can! and Piano Unit 1 (or Units 1A and 1B); Active SAA membership; Approved Intermediate or Comprehensive video audition through the SAA. Go to

Required Course Preparation:
All teacher training participants are asked to prepare and memorize the repertoire to be studied to the point of fluent performance. Additionally, participants should be conversant with the ideas presented in Dr. Suzuki's book Nurtured by Love.

Hours: 15 hours of class time. 8 hours of observation.

Registration: Wednesday August 14 at 8 am. Orientation meeting begins at 8:30 am. Course begins at 9 am on Wednesday and continues to Sunday at 4 pm.
