Teacher Development in Violin & Viola

Violin Unit 2

Discussion of teaching points and development of technique and musicianship through Book 2 Suzuki Violin School (also appropriate for viola).
Prerequisites: High school diploma; Completion of Every Child Can! and Unit 1 (or Unit 1A and 1B) as a Participant; Current SAA active membership; Approved video audition through the SAA. Go to www.suzukiassociation.org/teachers/guides/audition

Required Course Preparation:
All teacher training participants are asked to prepare and memorize the repertoire to be studied to the point of fluent performance. Additionally, participants should be conversant with the ideas presented in Dr. Suzuki’s book Nurtured by Love.

All participants will be performing Suzuki repertoire and other materials in class. Please bring your own violin. It is recommended that participants bring an audio recorder and a notebook to all sessions. 100% attendance is required for registering the course.

Hours: 15 hours of class time. 8 hours of observation.

Registration: Sunday August 12 at 8 am. Orientation meeting begins at 8:30 am. Course begins at 9 am on Sunday and continues to Friday at 4 pm.

Cost: $435 CDN

If your instructor has prepared additional materials for the course, they will be posted online for you to print and bring to SOSI. If you do not have access to a printer, when you register, please request that our office print it for you. The cost will be added to your invoice.
All Teacher Development courses are subject to cancellation should there be insufficient registration. If you need to book air or rail transportation to and from SOSI, please first confirm with our Administrator that the course is running and there is room in the course for you.
