Violin Units 6–8 Overview

In this overview course, we will explore different aspects of nurturing the Book 6-8 students including ideas on further developing bow arm skills and fostering a team commitment with the judicious use of supplementary repertoire and core materials.
Prerequisites:
  • Minimum age of 17 and a high school diploma
  • SAA active membership
  • Every Child Can! course
  • Violin Unit 1 (or Units 1A and 1B), and Violin Units 2 through 8 as a Participant
  • Approved Comprehensive video audition through the SAA
A discounted Audition Fee applies if audition is submitted before June 14. If submitted within 8 weeks of the course start date, the regular audition fee will apply. Go to www.suzukiassociation.org/teachers/guides/audition for more information on how to audition.

Required Course Preparation:
All teacher training participants are asked to prepare and memorize the repertoire to be studied to the point of fluent performance. Additionally, participants should be conversant with the ideas presented in Dr. Suzuki's book Nurtured by Love.

All participants will be performing Suzuki repertoire and other materials in class. Please bring your own violin. It is recommended that participants bring an audio recorder and a notebook to all sessions. 100% attendance is required for registering the course.

Hours: 15 hours of class time. 8 hours of observation.

Registration: Sunday August 9 at 8 am. Orientation meeting begins at 8:45 am. Course begins at 9 am on Sunday and continues to Friday at 4 pm.

If your instructor has prepared additional materials for the course, they will be posted online for you to print and bring to SOSI. If you do not have access to a printer, when you register, please request that our office print it for you. The cost will be added to your invoice.
All Teacher Development courses are subject to cancellation should there be insufficient registration. If you need to book air or rail transportation to and from SOSI, please first confirm with our Administrator that the course is running and there is room in the course for you. Under no circumstances are we responsible for your travel or other expenses if it turns out that a course needs to be cancelled for any reason.
